Power of Prayer

We have had a few experiences in the last couple weeks that I thought would be good to share. First... Last week, Trent couldn't find his truck keys. He was running late for work and was parked behind me, so I couldn't take him to work or leave for work myself. So we were both trapped by this darn truck. I was trying to get ready for work, so he was looking everywhere. Outside in his truck, on the ground through the snow, in the house, in the cupboards, fridge even, they were just gone. I went in the bedroom and he was dumping his dresser drawers on the bed to go through and see if the keys fell in the drawer. They weren't in there either. Finally I just stopped him and said have you prayed? He said no. So I said fine, get ready we're praying. So I just asked for Trent to have a clear mind of where he was at when he had his keys last. When we finished praying, he went through his routine the night before. Came home from my moms, took his hoodie off and heard the keys, took them out of the hoodie and put them in his pants pocket for the next day, and then came in the front room to talk to me. I asked if he had checked his pockets. He told me he had, and I said check them again. He had to dig under his coveralls and his hoodie to get to his pocket, but low and behold in his pocket was his truck keys. We both just laughed and said it was amazing what the power of prayer can do. Yesterday... I was sitting at work and my computer had been having a few issues, but I just brushed it off and didn't think about it again. When I went to log on in the afternoon I wasn't able too. My username was incorrect, my password was wrong, and I got an awful message about my computer crashing. My heart sank. My computer has everything on it. I have iTunes, which isn't a HUGE deal, but I love my music. My main concern and stomach churning came from the thought of losing all my pictures. I have pictures on that computer from 2006! Graduations, births, birthday parties, missionary farewells and homecomings, family pictures I had taken, every holiday, our temple photos!!! I was sick! I instantly tried to just walk around my office and take my mind off of it, but I couldn't and just busted out crying. Mandy told me it would be okay and to just breathe and say a prayer. I was annoyed at her because it seemed like she didn't get my problem. I had just lost my entire photo memories of things I enjoyed and things that made me laugh and I just cried. I finally just had to walk away and locked myself in the bathroom and cried and prayed and cried some more. Still in tears, I walked back to my office and tried my computer again... nothing. I heard Mandy tell me to go look at her computer. Did she not understand I was in the middle of a crisis?! Reluctantly I walked to her desk and she told me to look and on her screen were my temple pictures. She had found a folder in one of her folders that said Mels Temple Pics. We had deleted that folder over a month ago. It shouldn't have been on her desktop and when she was looking on her computer it wasn't there. So while I was in the bathroom having my meltdown she prayed. And when I had walked back into the room and sat down she had found it. Our prayers had been answered. I didn't have all my pictures, but our temple pictures are the most important thing to Trent and I on that computer. I was overcome with emotion and bawled like a little baby. She asked me if I still had my external hard drive and I said yes and she said lets see when the last time was that I had transferred pictures over to it. I had done the last one in November!!! It was earlier in the month, but I atleast had every picture that I have taken on that external hard drive until the first of November! I knew on my camera that I still had the night we went to the temple lights in SLC, Christmas, Emily's homecoming and Christy's family pictures. I couldn't believe it! It was another answered prayer. I know that these experiences might be silly and might be dumb things to some people. But for us, it was another example of our Heavenly Father letting us know that He listens! He is there and will answer prayers. But we have to ask. We need to ask with a pure heart and real intent and He will bless us. It didn't have to be a huge miracle to us to have that confirmation that He is there. Even small things that we need He listens too. I know that. I know that He loves us and is there to help us if we just ask for his help and guidance. I am grateful for the power of prayer and for these experiences.

WE MADE IT!!!

Yes, I know that I am delayed in posting this, but it's been a busy few months. Trent and I were able to receive our endowments and be sealed on August 23, 2014. Surrounded by our awesome family and friends! It was truly the BEST day of our lives! I have so many pictures, but I have a few that are my favorites. So I will share them, but before I do I want to encourage anyone reading that hasn't received their endowments yet to do it! Make whatever changes in your life that are stopping you and just go! You won't regret it! My one regret is that we didn't go sooner, but we know for a fact that this was the best time for us and we know that this is when our Heavenly Father was ready to give us these blessings. The blessings are amazing and the feeling inside the temple is one of peace. We love going and just sitting and reflecting on what our Heavenly Father has done for us. Sorry for the picture overload, but trust me when I say that it could be worse. HAHA!

Update... yes, I know it's been 5 years!

I know it's been awhile since I have done anything on this blog, but I have a good excuse! I don't have internet at home and haven't had any time while at the office to update it. I have a few minutes so I thought I would post a little about what's going on with Trent and I. We are getting ready for the temple!!!
Yes I know that its been a long time coming, but we are finally in a place where I can say that we are ready to go to the temple and to learn more and to just be in the house of the Lord! We are planning on sometime in August (haven't set a final date yet) but we are really excited and can't wait for the next step in our journey together. The lessons are awesome and our teachers (Brother Anderson and Brother Verde) are amazing and we feel the spirit so strong when they are in our home. They have encouraged us to read the Book of Mormon and we have thoroughly enjoyed reading and discussing what we have been learning. We are so excited to learn more and go to the temple and receive our endowments and be sealed for time and all eternity. Trent is working for Roosevelt City now and he LOVES it! The guys he works with are great and he enjoys working with them. He coincidentally works with my brother Troy. Which for them is the best thing in the world. They are like little kids when they are together, so it's perfect for them to be working together.... I think! I am working in Roosevelt also, for Basin Land Title. We have a huge project we have been working on for the past two years. It's been so fun working here. My bff/sister in law works here also, so it's been great! We are looking for a place to live in Roosevelt. It will be a huge change for us. We love our ward family and being that close to both of our families, but I think we can survive the extra 30 minutes it takes to get over to see my family and Trents is only an hour. I think we'll be okay! LOL! We are excited about the next few months and the changes that will be happening. I will try and be better about updating!

Idaho Trip Part 2

The next day we went to church and after we went to see where Grammy works on the farm.

And where Gramps shop is when he isn't out harvesting.

Grammy informed me that she keeps the candy jar stocked and her desk looking nice and neat. Gramps shop was surprisingly clean. Unlike his one in Duchesne, haha!

This is where the potatoes are boxed and get ready for shipping.

The green line at the top is how full they fill this cellar with potatoes. I was amazed at how high it was. That's alot of spuds!

Grammy and I wanted to get some sweet corn to take home, so we went through the field picking it. I had never done this and was nervous I would pick one that wasn't ready. Apparently she knew what she was doing. We got alot of corn! We were even filling our pockets... LOL!
Gramps took me through the feeder corn because it is so tall, my grammy was a little worried that I would get lost. I'm glad I followed my gramps, cuz after we got a little ways in I didn't know which way it was we came from or how to get out.
On our way back to great grams house, my gramps asked me if I wanted some potatoes. Of course I did! Who is gonna turn down fresh red potatoes?! So he stopped the car and we got out and went into the potato field and dug some up.

Growing up, I have always learned that by serving others we are serving the Lord. I am greatful for my grandparents example of that throughout my entire life. And I am so glad that Trent and I were able to go and spend time with them and feel of their spirit.

We had the best time in the world and are so excited to go back!!!

Idaho Trip Part 1

Trent and I have been meaning to go to Idaho to see my grandparents for some time now. It just so happened we were able to find time to go and really had an amazing time!

It's a long drive to Idaho and we made a stop in Logan to drop off some stuff to my sister. I was, of course, glad that we made the stop. I miss my sister and her family so much since they went back to Logan for school. After we left her house we headed towards Idaho Falls, it was getting late and as soon as we got outside of Logan it became the worst downpour I have ever driven through. We were only going 30 miles an hour all the way to Pocatello and I was exhausted and so we stopped and got a room in this amazing hotel!! It was seriously the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in.

I couldn't wait to get up the next morning and go see my grandparents!! We had so much to do.

Trackside Mall (if anyone ever wants to find antique stuff, go here!)

Mackay BBQ (my mom grew up here and the people were so nice, I felt like I was at home)

A little exploring the old mines

The East farm (my grandpa was harvesting wheat on this field and showed us how to drive the tractor)

This is the BIG tractor! It was HUGE!

I loved the sunset!

And of course we had to make a short stop to see the Idaho Falls Temple!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This year for Valentine's I decided to make a heart shaped cake for Trent. I love to bake, but this cake... for some reason just didn't sound fun to me. I had to frost it and decorate it?? Who does that for fun?! Alas, I did it! I made the cake on Sunday night so that it would be cooled down enough for me to decorate on Monday. I told Trent that I was making the cake for my mom. He believed me. Good job me!! It worked out perfectly. Right before we went out for dinner, I gave him his cake. He was surprised!

He did a good job at spoiling me today. He woke me up with a basket of bubble bath and bath salts. LOVED THEM! Then when I got home there was a dozen white roses! They are gorgeous and I put them on my night stand so that I can look at them first thing in the morning. We were going to try out the new Chinese place in town, but after we went and picked up our "other" date (my mom), it was PACKED! So we decided to just go with boring old cowans instead. I should have just made dinner, probably would have been better. But Trent wanted to take us out, so I couldn't complain! lol

I am so greatful for my husband and friend. Thanks for listening to me complain and letting me cry for hours about the stupidest of things, especially lately. Thank you for a great day! I love you so much and hope we have many more Valentines Days to come!

What's Been Happening?

I haven't posted in a LONG time, so I thought that since I was sitting here, I would do a quick post of what has been going on.

I still work for Land Professionals, which does oil research for some local oil companies. I love my job and have a great boss! The crew isn't so bad to work with either. lol I also started selling pampered chef. I might have mentioned that before. But alot happened and I kinda put it on the shelf for awhile. But I am really trying to get back into it. I have my first real party this week and I'm kinda nervous, but I'm excited too.

Trent... he's had a rough go. He doesn't have a job right now, but he is lookin for one. He has applied at a few different places, but hasn't heard anything back yet. He does some side work for this lady in town and that keeps him a little busy. But he makes up for it by doing the laundry and cleaning the house. So it helps! lol

Speaking of house... We moved into a rental house in town. We love it! I hate all the bills (who doesn't) but its ours and I'm starting to decorate it a little more here and there. We've been here since the beginning of September and we're finally starting to settle in and get use to the quiet. It's definately a change from my mom's place. We couldn't bring our cat, Lucky or our dog, Goliath. And I miss them alot, but my mom is a great grandma and is taking care of them for us.

I guess that's it for now, but I'll post some pictures as soon as it isn't raining outside and I can get a decent picture.
