A New Year... Hopefully A New Me!!!

For those of you who have known me my entire life, or even those of you who have just known me for a few years, probably know that I am not one who likes to excersize... AT ALL! I danced when I was little and then stopped dancing when I was on the drill team my senior year of high school. So that gives me about 10 years of doing absolutely nothing for my health. Well this past few weeks I have been trying to watch what I eat, portion control and not drinking sugary drinks. But I knew that I needed to do something besides that. I couldn't just watch what I was eating and hope that the pounds came off. So I was more than happy when a friend of mine suggested that we, my four friends and myself, go to a kickboxing class in Roosevelt once a week. What a great start I said to myself. I would start with once a week and hopefully be able to find something I can do at home the rest of the week to get my heart beat racing a little. But what I wasn't expecting was the great pain I was in last week from our first time at the class. I have NEVER experienced so much pain my life. It wasn't just in my legs, or even just in my arms... it was my ENTIRE body. It hurt to get out of bed, to walk around, to sit on the toilet (sorry, but it's true). It hurt to do everything. So why would I want to go back and put myself through that again??? Well... I was looking through some recent pictures and I decided I really didn't like what I was seeing! So when the time came to have to go to class again, I had to go! I really didn't want to, but I went and I had a great time and I don't hurt as bad. It probably helped that I warmed up before I just dove in. But it felt good to have my pulse racing and doing the steps and watching the teacher and working out with friends and the music that they played wasn't too bad either. lol But what I suggest for all you readers out there is to get off the couch! Go to a gym, walk on the treadmill, I don't care... lets get ourselves in better shape for this year! Let's make it to 2011 in better shape than we started 2010!!!

Late Post for Thanksgiving and Christmas

So I know that we are MONTHS past these two holidays, but I need to just write a short paragraph about them...

Thanksgiving...
We had an amazing Thanksgiving, thanks to my Aunt Susie and her family. They did a great job with the turkey, stuffing and potatoes. And everyone else contributed in other ways, but I have to say (sorry in advance Grammy) that it was the best turkey I have had in my entire life! It was just so juicy and yummy and I can't explain it, but it was SOOOO good. I had a great time hanging out with my family! Before we ate, me and my cousins got together for a little "photoshoot" for fun. Here are some of the pictures that we took.

Christmas...
I love Christmas time! It is by far my favorite holiday. I love being with my family and having an opportunity to just watch movies, play games (thanks Megs for Killer Bunnies... no one wants to play with me, could be the name? lol), go bowling , or just sit and talk with them. This year was a little different because we were missing my cousin CJ who is currently serving a mission in Bulgaria and enjoying every minute. So that was a little weird to not have him there, but we did get to talk to him for awhile. We all gathered in my grandparents kitchen and put the phone on speaker. I just love getting to spend time with everyone and hear what is new and exciting in their lives. I do have to say that my favorite thing about this Christmas, was getting to spend some fun times with Andrew and Olivia.

Just watching them be excited about silly things makes me wish I was a kid again. To forget about all the bad in the world and just think about how much good there is when your a kid. No fear, no hate, no dissappointment over silly things, nothing ever seems bad when your a kid... I am grateful for those two little people in my life. So for this Christmas season, I have to thank my Heavenly Father for giving me two little people in this world that I want to be a better person for. Thanks to my amazing family for the love they give me every day and of course for all the laughs that we have shared throughout the years! I love you all!

So You Think You Can Dance...

I am totally addicted to any TV show that has pretty much anything to do with dance. But my favorite is I got an email that said that tickets went on sale, so I got on and bought tickets on the 21st row!!! I'm sure we could have got better seats, but it was still good seats. Lights went out and the opening number began... I was super excited and started cheering. They performed all of my favorite dances, addiction, battlefield, calle ocho, bank robbers, the necklace, paso doble, and my personal favorite and touching breast cancer routine. Here are a couple of pictures that I happened to get.

All too soon it was time for the last number. I had a great time with the girls! I love these women and the only thing that would have made it better is if my Grams, sweet Cassidy and Aunt Shelly could have made it with us. I know they would have loved watching the performances. Here is who went with me. My mom, Megan, Susie, Christy, Lindsey, Jennifer and Emily. We have to go next year for sure!

Very Interesting Concert

Two of my best friends and I went to a concert on October 30th. I was super pumped and we bought t-shirts before hand so I didn't have to worry about spending an arm and a leg for a shirt or anything else they had for sale. There were two opening bands... and they were uhm... weird! But I wasn't going to let anything stand in my way of having a great time with my friends and listening to The Sounds. While the performance was happening I happened to catch a glance of someone I thought looked familiar. Not like a person I know personally, but someone I had seen before. So I asked my friends if they had seen the guy. They looked close and sure enough, it was Chet from the Real World Brooklyn! He was there in the front row, taking some pictures. We got some far away pics, but we really wanted to go down and get one with him. The place was packed and hard to leave, so we just hoped that we would see him when it was over. Sure enough... HE WAS! And we got a pic with him. He is from Utah originally and we asked him if he traveled with the bands. Turns out he was friends with one of the singers of the opening bands and met up with him in Salt Lake and came to the concert for fun. It was great! I had a good time with my friends and was glad that I got to spend some time with the girls.

I love to see the temple...

About a month ago, I was in the Salt Lake area and I was a little bored. So I thought that I would take a little drive to a place that always seems to bring me to what the meaning of life really is. I sat at the temple grounds for nearly 30 minutes. Watching wedding pictures being taken, engagements happening, people going in for a session, and just looking at the scenery and loving how beautiful the fall is and the temple in the background. I took a few pictures. I was nervous about getting out and walking around because I didn't want to disturb the events taking place. But here are a few of my favorites.

Happy Birthday Grammy!

My grandma's birthday was yesterday! October 12... and I want ya'll to know that my grandma is not old! Despite what she might tell you, she is not. She is only 69 years old. Not old at all! So we had a party for her yesterday at Christy's house. We had a scruptious dinner for her, which consisted of mashed potatoe's and rolladin (don't know if that is spelled right) but it is a German meat. SOOOO good! MMM... the thought alone makes my mouth water. Oh and then there was a whole bunch of other stuff, but the important stuff was mentioned! Then I made an angel food cake with cool whip and heath bar frosting. I love that cake! It's not only delicious, but I made it with sugar free cool whip so my gramps could eat it and we could all be a little more healthy! (gotta sneak that in somewhere!)

My grandma is an amazing woman and I love her to death! I hope that she had a wonderful birthday and has many yet to come! Happy Birthday Grammy!

Happy Birthday Mom!

I am so bad at posting, its ridiculous! So my dear mother turned ... old on October 1st. We aren't aloud to say how old she was turning because she said it was depressing. She's not even that old people! And so as tradition goes, we had a family birthday party for her. Her meal of choice? Pizza! For those of you who don't already know this, my Grandmother is an amazing cook, but I LOVE when she makes pizza! On this occasion she made chicken alfredo pizza.
So good! Makes my mouth water just looking at the pictures again. Emily had to run to play practice or something, so she hurried and ate and then gave my mom a little solo of Happy Birthday on her way out the door. She's a nut! But it was cute. I think we'll keep that tradition going as well. Then it was cake and ice cream time! My mom of course picked the one cake that my grandpa is completely addicted too. (couldn't get this picture to turn, sorry!)

It's a white cake, with cream cheese or white frosting, and coconut on top. Weird I know, but it is yummy! And for presents my mom recieved from me and Trent this scrapbook photo organizer box. It is amazing if I do say so myself. You write on a card what the pics are of and the date and then who is in them and then put them in their own little box inside the big box and then when she goes to scrapbook them, she just takes out the small compartment and slides the rest of the boxes back so she is ready next time. Amazing, I know! My grandparents gave her some of this bath lotion something-er-other... she loves it and uses it every day. I hope that she had a great birthday! Love ya mom!
